EE Research & Development -
R&D
There is often a call for our EE team to conduct
EE Research and Development in order to qualify a new concept or to establish design and engineering
feasibility.
Conducting preliminary and in
depth market and technical research, development and product analysis is
part of the R & D qualification process. In the R&D phase, we use
research tools and techniques to do a broad spectrum analysis, zeroing
in on appropriate OEM components, product applications and technologies
that may assist development.
Knowledge
of current patents, products, machines, materials, manufacturing
practices and technologies to reduce the need to redesign the light
switch
including use of qualified OEM components and available electronic
distributor house products.
The process typically starts with defining the technical or electrical
or electronic specifications (Development
Criteria or Brief) which helps focus the efforts and necessary
resources including narrowing the field of research
and potential OEM or cross over market applications. See
EE
Development Process. R&D is sometimes troubleshooting in
order to define and manage an existing problem in the field.
The above example Data
Light, WhiteLight Design worked with the principles of the company
to research and develop a whole product line of modular residential and
commercial terminal box and cabling termination and networking
solutions, including electromechanical integration with PCB circuit
development and ProE 3D CAD modeling working with a China, manufacturer
source.
