CLIENT: Respironics Corporation, GA PROJECT: Paranatal Home Monitoring System - User Interface Design Screen Display Graphics - custom fonts & icon buttons Working with the Clients paranatal division, WhiteLight Design, Inc. was asked to support the user interface screen graphics of this home-based pregnancy monitoring system. Mothers who are in risk of early term delivery, typically must be monitored on a regular basis to help prevent early delivery of the baby and are typically required to rest in bed at home. This product was used to support the doctor in monitoring and the mother in performing various routine health and fetal monitoring procedures. The information was then transferred over the telephone line to a doctors office for reading and risk assessment. The product saved the doctors time and patient's travel to the doctors office, reducing the risks of travel and associated health complications. WD developed this custom touch screen display and font graphics system, with custom user icon buttons which allowed for quick and clear communication of the many different activities that the mother may be required to perform. The product was screen display activated and given a polite personality which responded to the patient in the second person display commands such as: "Hello Mary," "It is 12:00 o'clock, Good Afternoon, it is time to check your blood glucose levels." "At 3:00 p.m. you are scheduled to do a fetal kick rate reading, take your temperature and measure your weight" The corresponding icon button would also appear on the top portion of the screen to prompt the user, until the test result were received by the computer. The mother would touch the icon button to receive further instruction or simply perform the test and enter the results. |
